MARKETING YOURSELF AS AN AGENT IN 2023

How do you stand out from the crowd?

Being a real estate agent in 2023, it can be a challenge trying to break through the oversaturation of content to market yourself efficiently. We’ve put together a list of ways to promote you and your business in this ever-changing world.

DO THE PRELIMINARY WORK

Start out by analyzing your sphere and identifying your target audience. Which demographics are you trying to appeal to? This can change the way that you market and message yourself. Make sure to track your progress and performance along the way by using your platforms analytic functionality. What about print materials like a postcard campaign? Adding a trackable QR code is a great way to see who’s attention you’re grabbing. If you have the time and resources, get set up with branding your business. Having a personal logo is great for agents looking to differentiate themselves and put their branding on social media, merchandise, and so on. DOBI agents have access to logo design services, but there are plenty of freelancers and online services available for logo design.

EMBRACE SHORT-FORM VIDEO CONTENT

According to a 2023 marketing survey, 73% of people prefer to learn about a product or service from a short video. Embrace short-form videos and focus on content that you know well and think will be useful to your sphere. For example, if you have a lot of first-time buyers in your audience, be mindful to choose topics relative to educating them on the process. Simply become a resource that they can keep coming back to for information! Outside of educational content, walkthrough videos tend to perform well and they show off the product you’re selling. Everyone loves to dream and picture themselves in a beautiful home. Bonus tip! Make sure to add captions to your videos as many people watch without sound.

BUILD A WEBSITE AND KEEP IT UP TO DATE

If you’re a DOBI agent, you have a bio page that you can direct folks to that has a place for your contact information, accolades, sales portfolio, and testimonials. If you want to take it one step further or don’t have access to something like that, hire a third-party service to build out a personal website! Creating your own website with personal branding is a great way to add credibility to your business. Just make sure to keep your content fresh and up to date as outdated information can come off as unprofessional.

FARM REPEATEDLY AND CONSISTENTLY

More traditional approaches like postcards and letters still have their place in 2023! If you’re going to go with this strategy, make sure to farm your target audience repeatedly. Pick a neighborhood that makes sense and become a resource of information for them by sending out stats about homes sold, interest rates, and so on. Sending to the same neighborhood over and over also creates a strong name and recognition, which can go a long way.

GET INVOLVED WITH YOUR COMMUNITY

Try volunteering and participating in community events. If there’s a local business you go to regularly, build a relationship with them. Promote them and leave marketing materials at their storefront. Another great way to collaborate with local businesses is to do a giveaway! This brings attention to you and the business. If you’re looking to really up your game, and you have the marketing money to spend, try sponsoring an event like a local 5K or charity drive.

GET MORE CLIENT TESTIMONIALS

Encourage your clients (who we’re sure are already saying great things about you!) to put their experiences into words with a testimonial. Google, Zillow, and Facebook reviews look great to potential clients, and on top of it, most testimonials don’t expire and can be used in other advertisements. You can use them to give more substance to everything from social media ads to more traditional media like print advertisements. They’re also a great asset to add to your personal website or bio page if you have one!

FIRST STEPS

So there you have it! Hopefully you found some of these tips helpful for cutting through the noise in 2023. If there’s one major takeaway, start with identifying the three major differentiators (content pillars) for you and your business. Make sure that you always have a lead gen, lead nurture and conversion mindset in your marketing but with sincerity. Pose them with a problem and how you can be the best solution. Give them a call to action. When you create content for the sake of content, it’s like throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks. Starting with a clear marketing strategy for your brand and your audience immediately establishes trust and relatability which is everything in our business.
