UPCOMING WARM WEATHER EVENTS & ACTIVITIES Metro Detroit May 22, 2023 By Olivia Bevacqua As spring starts winding down, we’re all looking on the horizon to see what our next warm-weather adventure will be! Keeping that in mind, we’ve curated a list of various activities to enjoy in the Metro Detroit area. Whether you’re looking for family fun or a more adult setting, there’s something for everyone. ATTEND AN OUTDOOR CONCERT IN DOWNTOWN PLYMOUTH Their Friday night “Music in the Air” concert series features different artists playing for free in Kellogg Park in downtown Plymouth. Browse the surrounding shops and listen at your leisure. The artists playing include a wide variety of genres such as classic rock, R&B, pop, blues, and more! TAKE A VISIT TO THE HOWELL NATURE CENTER Located in Livingston County, the Howell Nature Center sits near Pleasant Lake on 230 acres of woods and wetlands. They offer a variety of outdoor education and recreation programs, care for injured wildlife in need of rehabilitation, have summer camp programs and so much more! One example of an educational class they offer is the upcoming “Power of Pollinators!” event on June 3rd where they’ll go over the important role that pollinators play in our ecosystem and how you can help them flourish. Credit: Flickr - Barbara Barden ATTEND THE BERKLEY ART BASH On Saturday June 10th, head to downtown Berkley to experience a completely transformed section of 12 mile road displaying wares from over 150 artists. This art fair includes live music, street food vendors, and kids activities. Visit this webpage to learn more about the event and see a list of artists that will be attending. GO CAMPING AT HAYES STATE PARK IN IRISH HILLS For a short road trip, check out Hayes State Park. The park is located off of Wamplers Lake in Irish Hills which is known for its 52 inland lakes and rolling hills. The park spreads across 78 acres and features a campground, swimming beach, boat launch, a fishing pier, trails, a picnic shelter, and more! Richards Credit: Metro Times CHECK OUT THE PALMER PARK ART FAIR IN DETROIT Come to Palmer Park in Detroit for a two-day art fair! It takes place on Saturday, June 3rd and Sunday, June 4th from 10 AM – 7 PM and 11 AM – 5 PM respectively. The fair will include 100 artists, food trucks, a beer tent, and live music! CLAIR WATERFRONT BEER, WINE, & COCKTAIL FESTIVAL Head over to Waterfront Park in Algonac to sample 1,500+ beers, seltzers, wines, spirits and cocktails from across the state and across the globe! The event takes place on Saturday, June 3rd and has both a general tasting and VIP entry option. There will also be live music at the event featuring country cover band, Weekend Comeback! The midway boasts a variety of activities such as roller skating, basketball, and mini golf. While you’re there, take in the beautiful murals by six local artists, enjoy concessions and more!
