Last summer, we shot our first-ever DOBI Explores episode at the M-1 Concourse and it’s giving us all the classic car energy for this weekend’s iconic Woodward Dream Cruise presented by Ford. Fun fact: the Woodward Dream Cruise actually started as a small fundraiser to raise money for a soccer field in Ferndale, Michigan and today it begins as one of the world’s largest one-day automotive events.

The Woodward Dream Cruise, dubbed “The World’s Largest Cruise”, draws approximately 1.5 million people and 40,000 classic cars each year from around the globe. North American cruisers from all over the U.S. from coast to coast, Canada and everywhere in between pack up their cars and head to Metro Detroit each August to participate in what has become an annual summer tradition. Attendees will be able to relive the iconic 50’s and 60’s era on Woodward Avenue through some of the most colorful and eye-popping vehicles ever created. It will be a multi-generational experience, fun for the whole family.

Before the festivities start on Saturday, head to the M1 Concourse on Friday, August 19th for the annual Woodward Dream Show from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. for a curated and judged car show. You can expect to see classic Fords, Lincolns and Firebirds as well as American classic hot rods and over 100 Corvettes. This year, the iconic 1932 Ford “Deuce” turns 90, the Lincoln brand celebrates its 100th anniversary, and the Pontiac Firebird turns 55.

Adding to the festivities, the Birmingham Shopping District’s annual “Birmingham Cruise Event” will take place on August 20th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will take place on the east side of Woodward Avenue along the streets and lot adjacent to Walgreens at 34300 Woodward Avenue. The official Woodward Avenue Dream Cruise route spans a 16-mile radius through nine participating cities including Berkley, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Township, Ferndale, Huntington Woods, Royal Oak, Pleasant Ridge, and Pontiac.

If you are planning to attend this year’s event, head to the Woodward Dream Cruise official website for parking, directions, and more details on parking.
